SingaporeCan my driving licence be revoked?
Yes, your driving licence can be revoked by the Commissioner of Police under the Road Traffic Act if you commit certain serious traffic offences or are deemed unfit to drive.
What the Law Says
The Road Traffic Act gives the Commissioner of Police the power to revoke a driving licence in specific circumstances — including after conviction for serious offences or if the holder is no longer fit to drive.
Under section 37 of the Road Traffic Act, the Commissioner of Police may revoke a person’s driving licence at any time if satisfied that the person is no longer fit to drive — for example, due to physical or mental incapacity, or because of repeated or serious traffic offences.
Revocation under this section takes effect immediately upon notice and does not require a court order. It is distinct from suspension (which may be temporary and court-ordered) or disqualification (which follows a court conviction).
Statutory TextThe Commissioner may, at any time, revoke the driving licence of any person if he is satisfied that such person is no longer fit to drive.
