IrelandI ordered goods online but they never arrived.
If goods you ordered online in Ireland never arrived, the seller must either redeliver them or refund you within 14 days under the Consumer Rights Act 2022.
What the Law Says
The Consumer Rights Act 2022 sets out clear rights when goods ordered remotely — like online — fail to arrive.
Under section 41 of the Consumer Rights Act 2022, if you buy goods in a distance contract (e.g., online, by phone, or mail order) and they are not delivered, you have the right to ask for either redelivery or a full refund.
The seller must act without undue delay — and in any case, within 14 days of your request. If redelivery is chosen, it must be at the seller’s expense.
This right applies unless you agreed otherwise before ordering — and even then, only if the alternative arrangement was clearly explained and you gave informed consent.
Statutory TextWhere goods are not delivered in accordance with a distance contract, the consumer may require the trader to deliver the goods or to refund the price paid.
— Consumer Rights Act 2022, s. 41 — Delivery of goods under distance contracts
What to Do
Contact the seller in writing (email or message) stating that the goods were not delivered and requesting either redelivery or a full refund.
Keep a copy of your request and note the date you sent it.
If the seller does not respond or refuses within 14 days, you can escalate to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).
You may also claim a refund directly through your payment method (e.g., credit card chargeback) if applicable.
